What we packed for the weekend

Three days in Lauterbrunnen. One bag. The rule we keep coming back to: if it doesn't fit, it doesn't come.

Going light isn't about minimalism as an aesthetic. It's about moving better. When your bag is right, you don't think about it. You think about where you're going.

Here's what made the cut this time:

Clothing: The Alpine Hoodie for mornings and evenings. The Summit Shirt when the sun takes over. One spare base layer, one pair of trail shorts. The Pine Cord Cap that stays on from the first step to the last.

Shelter & sleep: A mid-weight sleeping bag rated to 5°C. A small foam sit pad that doubles as back support in the bag.

Food: Enough for two days. The third we planned around a hut.

What we left behind: Everything that had a "just in case" attached to it.

The weekend was good. The bag stayed light. We came back with everything we brought and nothing we regretted leaving.
